Job Description

THE ROLE:
Reporting to the P&C Operations Manager, this part-time opportunity (3 days per week) is responsible for assisting with the accurate and timely delivery of end-to-end fortnightly payroll for approximately 550 employees.

The role offers flexibility in working days, aligned to the payroll cycle, and is well-suited to an experienced payroll professional seeking a structured yet adaptable working arrangement.

You will support all payroll-related activities, ensuring accurate, compliant and timely delivery of payroll processes and policies.

Key Responsibilities:
•    Process end-to-end fortnightly payroll for approximately 550 employees using ELMO Payroll
•    Ensure all payments are accurate and processed in accordance with employment contracts, Awards, and legislative requirements
•    Prepare, reconcile, and lodge monthly statutory obligations, including Payroll Tax, Superannuation, Child Support, and other deductions
•    Assist with end-of-financial-year processes, including Single Touch Payroll (STP) finalisation
•    Process termination calculations, including redundancies and leave entitlements
•    Administer workers’ compensation payments and liaise with external stakeholders
•    Maintain accurate employee records through HR systems
•    Respond to payroll enquiries in a timely, professional, and confidential manner
•    Provide backup support to the Payroll & Systems Specialist during periods of leave

Desired Skills and Experience

ABOUT YOU:
You are an experienced payroll professional with a strong understanding of end-to-end payroll processes and a commitment to accuracy and compliance. You bring a proactive approach, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a structured environment.

You’ll also bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in end-to-end payroll processing
  • Experience with contemporary payroll systems (e.g. KeyPay, UKG, Xero Payroll or similar)
  • Familiarity with time and attendance systems (desirable)
  • Strong knowledge of Fair Work legislation, National Employment Standards, and Award interpretation
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Well-developed communication skills, with the ability to explain payroll matters clearly
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and take initiative
  • High level of reliability and accountability
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Strong systems and computer literacy, with a proactive approach to technology
