Job Description

THE ROLE…
We are seeking a highly organised and dependable Transport Operations Lead to take ownership of transport governance, compliance, planning and operational coordination across our national distribution network.

Reporting to the Head of DC Operations, this role is responsible for ensuring our transport function runs safely, efficiently and consistently - with a strong focus on governance, process discipline, carrier compliance, freight control and day-to-day operational support.

This is a role for someone who thrives on structure, accountability and getting the fundamentals right. You’ll be the central point of oversight across transport operations nationally, supporting our sites with accurate dispatch planning, strong carrier management and consistent transport standards.

We are looking for someone who wants to step into a meaningful role, build credibility, own their space and become a trusted long-term expert in the function. This role will suit someone who is motivated by ownership, consistency and operational excellence, rather than using the role as a short-term stepping stone.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES…

In this role, you will:

•    Provide national oversight of transport governance, compliance and Chain of Responsibility (COR)
•    Support and coordinate daily transport planning and dispatch execution across distribution centres
•    Act as the key escalation point for manifest issues, carrier performance and service disruptions
•    Maintain strong control over carrier compliance, documentation and performance standards
•    Monitor and improve freight costs, freight recovery and reporting
•    Validate and manage transport invoice approvals and discrepancies
•    Ensure transport systems, data and processes are accurate, consistent and fit for purpose
•    Support standardisation and continuous improvement across transport operations nationally
•    Provide functional guidance to Transport Coordinators across sites

Desired Skills and Experience

THE PERSON…

To be successful in this role, you’ll be someone who is:

•    Highly organised, methodical and strong on follow-through
•    Confident working in a role that requires structure, process discipline and accountability
•    Comfortable being the gatekeeper - maintaining standards, challenging inconsistencies and protecting process integrity
•    Practical, calm and solutions-focused under pressure
•    Strong in transport operations, logistics coordination or supply chain execution
•    Commercially aware, with a solid understanding of freight, carrier performance and operational efficiency
•    Confident working across multiple stakeholders without overcomplicating things
•    Looking for a role where you can step up, own it properly, and stay the course
•    Motivated by being the go-to expert in your function and building long-term value in the role
